Why Operation Noah is Supporting the No Faith in Fossil Fuels Service and Pilgrimage on 21 April

On Friday 21 April, Operation Noah along with other Christian charities – including Tearfund, Christian Aid, YCCN and CAFOD – will hold a No Faith In Fossil Fuels Service and Pilgrimage outside St John’s Church, Waterloo. We’ll gather from 11am to pray and sing; after the service at 12 Noon, we will walk to Parliament and join The Big One protest, which will be family-friendly and is aiming to attract 100,000 people.

As fossil fuel companies report record profits while underinvesting in renewables and exploring for new oil and gas, UK Christians are calling on Church of England (CofE) and Catholic dioceses yet to make a divestment commitment to divest this Lent. Written prayers, video messages, and facts about the devastating impacts of fossil fuels will be shared as part of the campaign. Christians will also be invited to write to their bishop, get their local church to divest, and reach out to diocesan financial decision makers to discuss divestment.
