Earlier this year, Operation Noah, Just Love, and JustMoney launched The Big Bank Switch campaign, inviting Christians around the UK to align their money with their values by switching from a bank that funds planet-destroying fossil fuels to one that doesn’t. We are now encouraging churches around the country to hold a ‘Switch It Sunday’ service, and have developed resources to make it easy to do so. Our ‘Switch It Sunday’ resource pack includes written prayers, suggested hymns and songs, scripture readings, and more.

Following last week’s successful Church of England General Synod motion to increase biodiversity on Church land, Operation Noah is highlighting a case study video featuring a new tree-growing partnership between the Diocese of Leeds and the Woodland Trust; together, the diocese and the Woodland Trust have identified over a dozen sites on 100+ acres of diocesan land with the aim of planting trees by 2025.

In the three hours I spent at the prayer vigil, I was reminded that campaigning, like prayer, is simultaneously unremarkable and powerful. The simple act of being present, of believing that change is possible – and of being willing to be part of that change – can transform a dull February day when our political system seems irredeemably broken into a defiant act of faith and hope.
In January, Clare Fussell was appointed as our new Bright Now Campaign Director. Having previously led The Climate Coalition, managed Christian Aid’s Campaign Team and served as Environmental Adviser for the Diocese of Bristol, Clare has an impressive campaigning background, and we’re excited to have her leading our team. Here, Clare reflects on joining Operation Noah.
Over the past 12 months, the Church has used its voice to challenge climate injustice, its money to invest in climate solutions and its power to stop funding fossil fuels. In our final newsletter of the year, we celebrate the inspiring work of campaigners to care for creation and to mobilise the Church and wider society to do likewise.

We’re thrilled to announce that Operation Noah’s Bright Now Campaign has been shortlisted for ‘Campaign of the Year’ by the Sheila McKechnie Foundation as part of the National Campaigner Awards. The nomination recognises our longstanding campaign to get UK Churches to divest from fossil fuels and invest in climate solutions.

As the UK prepares for a General Election later this year, churches can advocate for the protection of climate and nature now by pressing candidates to support the Climate and Nature Bill. Operation Noah has teamed up with Green Christian to put together a General Election pack to help churches to do just this. Our General Election pack includes written prayers, sermon ideas and other resources to get your church engaged with the climate and nature crises at this crucial time.

We recently welcomed Jess Templeman to Operation Noah as our new Fundraising Officer. Jess brings a wealth of fundraising experience to our team and has a particularly strong background in international development alongside having worked with faith communities. Jess also currently serves on the PCC for St Martin-in-the-Fields. She recently sat down with Clare Fussell, our Bright Now Campaign Director, for a short interview.
