In life, there is a time for a softly softly approach and a time for putting your foot down. As we edge ever closer to climate collapse, it’s clear that if we want a habitable planet, this is a time for the latter.

• Church leaders from around the UK are calling for a windfall tax on fossil fuel companies to tackle the cost of living crisis and for energy efficiency measures to reduce heating bills.
